Delicious Spring collection

Six new pastel shades will be available from the Hollish Etsy store THIS THURSDAY 12/09/13!

The Delicious Spring collection includes six pastel crelly (creme/jelly) polishes with gold micro glitter and coordinating matte, metallic and holographic glitters in ultra-fine to medium sizes. The shimmer powder used in each of these polishes is barely visible on the nail, but makes the polish smooth to apply, and easy to build up. The gold micro glitter also helps aid application, and provides subtle sparkle.

Strawberry Sundae

Strawberry Sundae contains gold micro-glitter as well as holographic rose, matte hot pink and light pink dot glitters, all in a creamy pale coral pink crelly base. It is a beautiful, squishy shade of pink!

Peach Parfait

Micro-fine and ultra-fine gold glitters along with matte and holographic orange hex in a peachy pastel crelly base. This shade works well on fair skin as well as darker skin tones, and is neutral enough to wear at the office, while the orange glitters add a little something extra. A perfect Spring not-quite-nude.

Green Apple Gelati

This beauty contains gold micro glitter as well as lime green holo hex and beautiful sea green hex and dots in a pale apple green crelly base. The sheerest of the collection, this can be built to opacity in around three patient coats (as shown below), or worn over matching polish for those who struggle with sheer polishes.

Mint Macarons

Ultra-fine gold glitter and metallic and holographic teal hex swimming in a beautiful minty teal crelly base. The photograph below gives an idea of the base colour of this shade, however the larger glitters in the final mix had to be changed due to curling, and are now a slightly darker shade of teal holographic hex. The teal shimmer is just visible in this shade, which appears a little darker in person.

Blueberry Brûlée

This pretty shade of pastel sky blue contains gold micro glitter and turquoise and ocean blue hex and dots in metallic and holographic finishes. A pretty pastel blue, without being too pale.

Grape Granita

Grape Granita contains micro-fine and ultra-fine gold glitter as well as lavender matte and holographic glitters in a lavender crelly base. The pretty violet/purple shimmer is just visible from some angles.

Death by Sparkles holographic microglitters

Introducing Hollish's second collection of nail polishes: 

Death by Sparkles!

Death by Sparkles is a collection of four full-coverage holographic microglitter polishes. The collection will be available from http://www.etsy.com.shop/HollishNails from Thursday the 15th of August. To learn more about this range (including pictures and shade descriptions), read on!

What is so special about the Death by Sparkles collection?

Each of the four polishes in this collection are full-coverage holographic microglitters. These are different from scattered or linear holographic polishes in several ways:

• Composition: scattered and linear holographic polishes (or 'holos') contain tiny holographic particles as well as coloured tinters in a clear base. These polishes contain only dense holographic microglitter in a clear base, meaning that the colour you see is made up of all glitter, not diluted with tinters which may dull or dilute the holographic effect. 

• Application: unlike other holos, these polishes are easy to apply, and will not be dulled by adding a top coat. Whilst the first coat may look a bit patchy, further coats apply effortlessly and fill in all the gaps. Only two or three coats are needed for full coverage, however each of these polishes may be worn at one coat over a base colour for a different effect. One or two layers of thick clear top coat will create a smooth, shiny finish and bring out the dazzling holographic effect.

• Wear: whilst other holos are prone to chipping and tip wear, the dense glitter in the Death by Sparkles collection means that these polishes last noticeably longer on the nails than normal polish. 

• Removal: this is also not as difficult as larger glitters. To remove easily,  place small pieces of cotton ball saturated in nail polish remover over the nails and pat down. Leave on for five minutes, then press down firmly on the cotton ball and slide the polish off the nail. No scrubbing needed! You may wish to wrap your fingertips in alfoil while you wait if you are afraid that the cotton pieces will fall off.

I Bleed Rubies

A bright reddish pink polish, which falls somewhere between burgundy and dark pink, and could be worn with either. I tend to think it is red, although my dear friend who is obsessed with pink maintains that it is bright pink. Everyone wins!

Murder on the Dancefloor

Sparkling bright silver, named by my hubby who said "Something on the dancefloor!" after I remarked that it looked like tiny disco balls on my nails. Luckily. I knew exactly what he meant.
